For my project there is a hack funtionality available within yelp itself to do something similar to what I have proposed. However, it is complicated and hard ot use. I think that the difference in my implementation is that it is not hack funtionality, and can be done easily by any user.

My project is targeted at people planning multistop nights out. So if they want to stay within a certain area they can define it and only receive information for that area and not outlying places that come up in the search. I could also see this being used by office workers to find a place to go within a certain bounding box and irection of their workplace.

To serve this information to users I will be using the google maps api and the Yelp api. I'll store Venue information after a lookup and I'll scrape this from yelp.
