Turf-Wars is a location based game which rewards and encourages traveling to and learning about neighborhoods. Neighborhoods are claimed, traded, sold, and acquired by players as they physically enter neighborhoods and negotiate their purchase. Values of neighborhoods are based on live data and statistics. The game can be played at several scales of time and space. Commodities can be at the scale of a city block or an entire country like the game of Risk and take place over a few hours or a year.
Possible Scenarios
1.Waiting for a friend to show up at a bar in LES. Player opens up Turf-Wars and knows LES is a highly desirable neighborhood because of its popularity. Decides to try to claim LES, not knowing if another player had already claimed it. Turns out someone already has, and negotiations begin.
2.Globetrotters traveling around claiming countries in a year-long game of Turf-Wars until one player claims every continent.
3.Bike messengers and cab drivers playing a 12 hour long game in NYC rushing to different neighborhoods as fast as possible.
