When Gakwer Stalker (http://gawker.com/stalker/) first appeared on the web, my immediate thought was of privacy implications. I'd always thought that I'd wanted to be a celebrity, but suddenly the price of Celebrity was getting higher - that anyone with access to a computer would have the ability to find me, pinpoint me, and then tell my million closest fans where I was started to get a little strange to me.

In New York, where celebrity sightings are reasonably common, it's hard to believe that there are people who actually care enough to post to the site. However, a check today showed that yes, people still post to it, and that it's reasonably well used. It didn't change how I use or view the city, except to show that celebrities walk among us and to do so in a very visual way.
